Statement

Lines, structures, surface, colours, transparency - to highlight, to hide, to connect, to separate – to show what is behind, between the things – this are the intentions of her work. She is  inspired by emotions, social themes and natural structures.
The idea of the picture is in the forefront, designates the technique, colours and stuctures she will use. The prediction of the work, as clear as it seams to be, shall exalt the imagination of the viewer.

Linien, dreidimensionale Strukturen, Oberflächen, Farben, Transparenz – hervorheben, verbergen, verbinden, trennen - zeigen was hinter / zwischen den Dingen ist - das sind die grundlegenden Elemente ihrer Arbeiten. Sie wir inspiriert von Gefühlen, soziale Themen und Strukturen der Natur. Dabei steht stets die Bildidee im Vordergrund,bestimmt die gewählten Materialien und Techniken. Die Aussage, so konkret sie auf den ersten Blick auch zu sein scheint, soll immer das Weiterdenken, das drüber Nachdenken anregen.

CV

Born in Berlin, Brigitte Kopp grew up in the family of a tailor who worked for the Opera and Paris couture where she learned to sew very early. Later, she worked at the tailoring shop to finance her art and music studies at university of Fine Art, Berlin.
After graduating Kopp then worked as a classical musician and taught at music schools and universities of music in Berlin, Linz, and Vienna. Besides she continued painting and graphic art and exhibited her work in Germany. In 2007 she came in contact with textile art and started in winter 2008/09 to work with textile collages and sculptures in her new studio in the Spreewald, Germany.
Since 2009 her awarded fine art quilts, collages and mixed media works have been shown in national and international exhibitions as  Fibre Art International, Quilt National, Quilt Visions, Fine At Quilt Masters, Art Quilt Elements, Zehjiang Association China,  and Quilt-Triennial-Heidelberg. Her work is included in private and permanent collections including the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, USA. Brigitte Kopp is the winner of the Fine Art Quilt Masters and of  "the Gala of the unexpected" 25th anniversery contest of the Quilt National Museeum, Paducah.
She also shares her knowledge about quilting and art by teaching studio courses in German and English and served as a juror for Galleries and Quilt National.

Geboren in Berlin, wuchs Brigitte Kopp in einer Schneiderei auf, die für die Oper und die Pariser Couture arbeitete. Später arbeitete sie in der Schneiderei mit, um sich Ihr Kunst- und Musikstudium zu finanzieren. Nach Ihrem Examen unterrichtete sie an Musikschulen und Musik-Hochschulen in Berlin, Linz und Wien. Malerei und Graphik blieben aber ihre Passion der sie sich , wann immer sie konnte, zuwandte. Im Winter 2008/09 begann sie mit Collagen und Skulpturen aus textilem Material  in ihrem eigenen Atelier zu arbeiten.
Heute lebt sie in einem kleinen Dorf südlich von Berlin und widmet sich ganz ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit. Seit 2009 zeigt sie ihrer preisgekrönten Arbeiten bei Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland wie Fibre Art International, Quilt National, Quilt Visions, Fine At Quilt Masters, Art Quilt Elements, Zehjiang Association China,  and  Quilt-Triennial-Heidelberg. Ihre Arbeiten finden sich in privaten und öffentlichen Sammlungen wie dem National Quilt Museum in Paducah, USA. Sie ist mit dem Fine Art Quilt Masters und dem 1. Preis der  Gala of the unexpected" 25th anniversery contest des Quilt National Museeum, Paducah ausgezeichnet.
Sie gibt ihr Wissen in Kursen in deutscher und englischer Sprache weiter. Ihre Arbeiten sind in nahmhaften Sammlungen wie der des National Quilt Museum in den USA  zu finden.
